And how many times can we straighten our hair a week/month? I was straightening my hair yesterday and after I was done I went to the bathroom. I saw a bald spot. Not really there is a small patch of hair but I didn't notice that before. So it's either from me relaxing my hair, straightening it, or using Pantene. My coworker says that Patene isn't good for hair because it drys it. Something like that.

Depends on your hair type. I use frizz ease curl around shampoo and Biolage detangling solution for conditioner. I wear my hair natural and it's curly,
though. You can straighten your hair as much as you want, but the more heat styling you use, the more damage you will do.
And how did I not know that you were black? |

And I agree about the pantene. It never did anything but make my hair coarse, tangly and dried it out.

Yeah, Pantene has never done any favors for my hair.
I use Nioxin shampoo and Thicker Fuller Hair conditioner since my hair is thin and I straighten it once a week. For styling, I use Frizz Ease Hair Protector for heat styling and Darn Straight hair lotion. My hair is very soft after I straighten. |

MissDivaDoll wrote: I have no idea. It's probably because I haven't posted a picture of myself. How much does this Biolage conditioner cost? See my hair is short and frizzy if I don't straighten it out. I usually straighten my hair once a week after I air dry it. And naturally my hair is nappy so that's why I relax it every 3, 4 months. Once a week should be okay for straightening. And yeah, I'm just a dumbass, I guess.
Biolage is kind of expensive. $25 for a one liter bottle, but I usually try to buy it when wal-mart or other salons have it on sale buy one, get one free. When they do, I usually stock up on it. |

You probably need to simmer down on the relaxing. No one shampoo is good for all black folks hair. I like Yes to carrots and Redken shampoos. Others swear by
creme of nature green label or even giovanni smooth as silk shampoo.
Maybe you can do a conditioner wash for a bit to see how that works, and then clarify once a month. I would also deep condition at every wash! |

I swear by this stuff: http://www.aubrey-organics.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=015
I use the one for dry hair too. It doesn't do the best job at moisturizing but my hair is really thick so that can be why. My hair was so damaged but I deep condition and shampoo my hair with this product about once a week and my hair is so visibly thick and getting longer. I blow dry my hair once a week also and use Frizz Ease Hair Serum which is a heat protectant. In between washes I use Jane Carter products on my hair for moisture. http://www.janecartersolution.com/condition.html I try not to put too many chemicals in my hair. The more natural the products are, the better. |

I co-sign about the Pantene. It dries your hair out and strips it of its natural oils.
I use Motions shampoo and its good for my hair. I used to use Kera Care and I loved that. |

No you aren't. I'm sure others don't even know I'm black. Is it important for the shampoo and conditioner to have moisturizer in it? Yeah I'll try the conditioner wash and see what that does to my hair. I'll see where I can get Jane Carter. I've heard of Kera Care. Maybe Wal-Mart has it. |

I absolutely love the Pantene Relaxed and Natural for Women of Color line. I love the way it makes my hair feel but I'm afraid to use it all the time on my
hair because it's supposedly bad on your hair/scalp.
And Keracare did nothing for my hair. |

LMAO As soon as I read your post, my first thought was SHE'S BLACK? LOL.
Anyway I swear by Silk Elements Olive products. I've got the shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner. I also use Frieda Frizz Ease for straigtening. |

Do you use regular Silk Elements too? If so, is there any difference between that and Silk Elements Olive? |

I used regular at first and really the only difference I've seen is the conditioner leaves my hair easier to detangle (I'm natural) and when I dry it
using a dryer it's not as dry as when I used regular silk elements.

Ah I see. I absolutely LOVE the way my hair feels after I wash the regular SE conditioner out because it feels so silky and like butter but overall it does
nothing for my hair. And I was going to try out the SE Olive line but I figured it wasn't much different from one another.

I've always heard Motions is really harsh on the hair/scalp but a lot of people swear by it.
