I just got an email that a kid got hit by a train and died last night. He lived in the building next to me but I didn't know him. Still...man.

The sad part was, I got the email and automatically assumed he died from alcohol poisoning. So far, someone has been taken to the hospital every night for
drinking too much. The boy was completely sober and was jostled onto the tracks. It's terrifying when you see first hand how fleeting life can be.

You'll get used to hearing about people going to hospitals for drinking. And not quite first hand for you, but that's very sad news.

I don't understand how people get hit by trains other than by being stupid or being drugged out on something or being drunk.
It's not like you see every day where someone was pushed onto the tracks in front of a train (whether in their car or not). I think I've heard of that like once... maybe twice? It's usually stupid person walking on tracks gets hit by train or stupid teenagers going for joy ride try to beat train and lose. |

How horrible!!! OMG I can just imagine how awful it was for everyone there also to see that. My cousin, when he was little, was playing with friends jumping on
parked trains and without them knowing a caboose or whatever hooked up to them by backing up. It knocked him off and the train ran over his foot and amputated
it. Fortunately he survived and was young and within a few months made the papers riding his bike! He then joined the special olympcs years later and I think
volunteers with Canadian War Amps now helping other kids in athletics.

YouAreAllTwats wrote:It's a valid point. I know she said he was sober but obviously has drinking problems if he's been taken to the hospital every night for it, so to me, that says something isn't right. It's a sad thing. I'm not saying it's not. I'm not even saying that when you're being stupid it's still not sad. I just need a lot more to this story before I believe some sort of stupidity wasn't in play. |

I think the OP meant other people from the school had gone to the hospital for alcohol, not this guy. Either way it is a sad story. But getting hit by a train always makes me kind of raise an eyebrow, because it is an unusual situation. But sad nonetheless. |

That happened around here a few months ago. He was drunk and fell asleep on the track... Nice place to take the snooze of your life.
