Mine is #4, but I make a lot more than that.

I thought preschool teachers would make more than that. They have the same amount of schooling and everything as any other teacher, correct? Why would they
make less? I knew that teachers had kind of crappy pay (especially for what they do...I could never be a teacher!) but dang...

Ugh, yes. #2 is my parttime job.
I earn $9/hr, but with taxes and everything it averages out to $8/hr which makes me hate it. I leave my house at 7:30am and don't get home until close to 11pm (my fulltime job is 8-4 mon-fri...I work through lunch) at least 3 days a week for a measly $100ish extra. It's just not worth it dealing with all the bitchy customers (sick and elderly people are NEVER fun) and doctors and insurance plus being exhausted all the time and rarely seeing my friends/family. I also had to go through quite a bit of training (multiple hours online, at the pharmacy, and at a training site) and get certified to work there.

SuperheroPip18 wrote:Ditto. Most of those require little formal education or training (for most locations, anyway), so it's not a surprise that they're low-paying. In fact, the only one that I can think of that requires relatively extensive training is EMT. |

None of them surprise me, but given how crucial some of those jobs are I find it sad they're so low paid.

No. I'm an accountant so I could prepare taxes (#10) if I wanted, but there's no way I'd settle for close to minimum wage and I'm pretty sure
the tax preparers they are counting on there are not CPAs.

Fishermanjoe21 wrote:I'd have to assume that in large metro areas, ambulances are staffed with paramedics. Medics have to go to school for a couple of years, and being one is their full-time, 8-hour/day job. So, I'd guess they make more. But I know around here (rural area), we just have EMT's that are on call all of the time. If there's an ambulance call, they pretty much drop what they're doing at their regular, full-time jobs to go on the call. So in a sense, I can see EMT's not making much. |

Damn, most states must pay shitty as fuck. I never knew anyone making that little. When I was a tech/cna I started off at $15.

I used to be #4. The last few schools I was at paid me more than the median. I think it depends on the school, and if they require you to have a degree or not.
Most preschools don't require you to have any type of college degree, just certification from the state. And some will even start you before you complete
it.

I used to be a Pharmacy Tech, but I made more than that and I lived in Alabama while I was one. I did it in Colorado also, and made more than I did in at home.
