My EMT friend said that she earned more when she was working under a private hospital then the public one.

I wanted so badly to comment on this article at yahoo, but I didn't see how.
How about SPED paraeducators? I've been working as one for 3 yrs. and I don't even make $9.00/hr. I have a B.S. degree. I graduated magna cum laude. WTF IS THE MATTER WITH ME? |

I like going home at 3:15. I don't like $8.85/hr. My degree is in Mental Health with a speialization in Mental Retardation. |

Haha. Mine is also #4. I don't make minimum wage, but I'm certainly not making bank either...

I went to school to do #4 and that is the only career I ever had until recently. I'm a Sales Associate just because I make more money doing this than I
ever did being a teacher, by at least $4/hr+.

#7 - I can't believe it's that low. A couple of my friends were lifeguards back when we were in High School and they made like $13/hr.

Re: the preschool teacher thing -
One can obtain a bachelor's or master's degree in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education, but many states don't require that to become a preschool teacher. (Most IECE majors don't end up teaching in the classroom setting from my understanding, they're usually directors of preschools/daycares or they're the Director of Headstart for an entire county.) All teachers are underpaid, but if someone with a BA/BS in Education is making minimum wage then there's a BIG problem. |

Mine is #2, but I make more than that. And pharmacy techs in hospitals around here START at double that.
