Yeah I agree. It's also so much more fun to live downtown because you can step out of your apartment and enjoy your walk. Sure, Central Park is great, but
the affordable apartments in the UES are such a long walk from Central Park, you wouldn't spend much time there anyway.

I live not too far from the west village. It's my favorite area too! It's all about negotiating. I live in a nice building and don't pay
much(comparably). I am hoping to move a little further down at some pt, though, but I doubt I will get as good of a deal!

yes, upper east side generally bigger apartments, newer construction etc. and generally cheaper. But i'm not a fan of the area. if you are looking at 2k
you can absolutely find an apartment down here.
