3D animation strikes again at America's multiplexes as the spectacularly-reviewed Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (Sony) has scored a solid $7.7M on its opening day, and audiences will gorge to the tune of a possible $28.6M by Monday morning. Although new release The Informant! (Warner Bros) appears to have outpaced Tyler Perry's I Can Do Bad All By Myself (Lionsgate) on Friday, the Atlanta-based filmmaker's latest is the likely #2 finisher with approximately $10.8M in its second weekend for a new cume of just less than $39M. Meanwhile, Steven Soderberg's comic corporate espionage flick starring Matt Damon seems headed for third with something in the $9.25M range.
The other 2 wide releases will round out the weekend Top 5. Love Happens(Universal), sunk by dreadful reviews despite the presence of Jennifer Aniston and Aaron Eckhart, coaxed about $2.8M in ticket sales on opening day, and it will finish at about $7.8M for its opening frame. Megan Fox better make amends with Michael Bay because she has considerably less drawing power without giant robots at her side. Oscar winner Diablo Cody's Jennifer's Body (Fox) is a monumental miss targeting a meager $6.85M by Sunday night.
