Right after whenever I swallow food I feel like I can't breathe and I have to gasp for air or take really deep, long breathes. I'm dying, right? Or
does this happen to other people? Sometimes it's an effort to just swallow it down in the first place.

do you feel any sort of pain when eating? or are those your only symptoms?

You really should see a doctor. I'm sure people have told you this. You could have a really irritated esophagus or plenty of other conditions that are
treatable. For now, just try eatting really small bits of food or just semi-solids like applesauce, jello, or pudding for a bit and try working your way back
towards swallowing more solids foods again.

I think that's it.
I get really weak, though, when I actually get food in me. |

I hate doctors
It's not just when I'm eating that I have to gasp for air. Sometimes it just happens randomly, too, when I'm laying in bed. |

I haven't had that checked, no. I'll bring that up if I go to to a doctor, though.
I don't know if this is always the case, but if it's a thyroid issue is there also weight gain? Cause if so, I've downed about twenty-five pounds since this semester started. |

Get your asophogus checked out. I'm not too sure what the actual condition is called but my boss has it. He can only swallow really tiny pieces of food or
he can't breathe. It doesn't happen just when he eats either, but it happens to him more often when hes swallowing.
I hope you feel better soon! |

You might die if you don't go to a doctor. Your problems will not be solved by posting on JJB.

This isn't the first time it has happened so don't act shocked or anything.
Or disappointed. |

HolyCannoli wrote:could be gain, could be loss depending on what's going on. but i know it's possible where your thyroid being enlarged can cause problems with swallowing and such, because it happened to me. i'd really suggest getting checked out--as much as it sucks going to the doctor, it'll be good to know what (if anything) is going on so you can get better, you know? |
