Couldn't believe how many cars I saw in spaces without handicap placards or stickers. Oh well, I hope they enjoy their $150 tickets.
Why do people illegally park in handicap spaces?

I was walking campus parking lots today to help look for handicap parking space violators. There have been a lot lately and campus police can't keep up, so
they often use student volunteers.

Because they rationalize that their situation makes them an exception to the rule (I'm late, I'll only be a minute, no one else was parked there). I
hate them.

They're more important than the handicapped.

My dad's doctor told him he qualifies for those parking spots because he has a bad back. He kindly declined saying he can still walk, and there are people
out there who need those spots more than he does.
I was like, wtf get it and give it to me

I have a handicap sticker, and one day all the handicap spots were full so I parked in a regular spot, and I had a lady yell at me and say that I was taking up
the spots for regular people to park in and that I should just wait for a "special" spot to open up for me.

More than likely there's nowhere else to park. At my campus, parking was a horrible problem and there are 19 million empty handicap spots. I didn't
have a car in college, but I know a lot of people who parked in those spots.

Well I was at a Target, so there was a ton of "regular spots" open. She was probably just upset that I took a closer spot than she had.

sperbb93 wrote:the other side of that story is one day there was an open spot RIGHT next to the handicap spot but this guy waited for the handicap spot to open (with cars backing up in the line behind him) while the people loaded their chair and all that. i was like dude just take the regular spot right next to it so we can all leave! i figured maybe he needed the extra space but it was
just a regular handicap spot it wasn't one of those that had the extra space for a lift or anything. i dunno. maybe he had gotten yelled at before for
parking in the regular spots.
