Honestly, if the Olympics are coming here, I'm moving. It's already too damn crowded.

I don't want it because I don't want Daley getting anything he wants.

i used to live in chicago and my sister still does and both of us (and her husband) want the olympics there. its going to do a lot for the south side of
chicago and it needs it. it needs the funding to clean things up and bring business to the neighborhood. plus my sister lives so close to where the main
stadium will be that her property value will go up so she's looking forward to that..

I couldn't care less about going to the Olympics personally, but if other people want to that's cool. All I know is, I am OUT of here.

Yeah, I wasn't planning on going anywhere. It's a great great city. But luckily knowing this early I will have plenty of time to make the move.
It's kind of a kick in the pants to get out and experience some other parts of the country.

As someone who lived in Atlanta during the 96 Olympics, I think you should want them. Yes, it is a pain in the ass for the 3 weeks the Olympics are in town --
but the millions upon millions of dollars that got poured into the city infrastructure were well worth it IMHO. That investment wouldn't have occurred
without the Olympics, but it greatly improved city parks & transportation, and I think Atlanta continues to reap economic benefits from having hosted them.
Chicago could use that type of economic boost.

Traffic's bad enough. I don't think it'll improve any properties or areas to be honest and it'll just be ridiculous. Then next time someone has
a complaint about Daley he'll bring up 2016.... sick of his ass anyways.

Even with six years, I don't think Chicago could get all the roads fixed in time.

I went to a rally last April against it. I don't think I could deal with all of the construction projects added onto the ones already going.

I'm not sure. I guess I wouldn't be upset either way. I see both sides.
I see why people don't want them: taxes after the fact and the simple fact that the city will just be chaotic and clustered. But it will also cause an increase in employment, the unions will have a surplus of jobs. We will have a large amount of money pumped into our economy from hotels, food, etc. I also think a HUGE plus is that it's likely an Olympic stadium will be built on the South Side. This is HUGE. |
