in the very beginning they'll go "hi, i'm rebecca taylor, thomas scott has the night off." is there a reason why they tell us that? are there
people out there who really wonder/worry about where thomas scott is that night? i don't get it.

Those newscasters become household names. That's how you become someone like Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, Diane Sawyer, Jane Clayson, etc. You move from the
network.

Yes we do that b/c then we get phone calls into the newsroom asking if "so and so" has moved or where are they. Annoying phone calls like that
