You can think what you want, just like I can! All is good in my book.

I don't know what kind of weed all you people are smoking (not that I smoke anymore) but I've never hallucinated. You all must be smoking some pretty
good shit!
I think drinking is ten times worse for your body and that's legal because they can tax it... but to each their own I guess. I don't force my opinions down anybody's throat. |

You can home brew alcohol too. Doesn't stop people buying it.
Tax revenue's usually one of the first pro-legalisation arguments people make for weed. |

You guys seriously aren't comparing how easy and accessible it is to buy weed off the streets to buying and growing and brewing self grown tobacco plants
and alcohol are you?
Because if you are, that would be really dumb. The marijuana industry contributes to 2/3 of the Mendocino County's local economy ALONE. That's BILLIONS of dollars a year. If people stopped growing and selling marijuana a whole county would be desolate. The state officials agree themselves. ETA: You don't think that government in Mendocino county is banging their heads against the wall, trying to figure out how exactly to tax those billions of dollars? If they could, why wouldn't they? It would sure as hell help out California's horrible economy problem. They're on the verge of bankruptcy.

Why would they ever allow marijuana to go on sale tax free when they tax the hilt out of everything we buy? The taxes are even higher on tobacco and alcohol,
which would be most akin to pot as a product.
Heck, where I am in the EU they won't even accept tampons and sanitary items as a VAT exemption because apparently they're not necessary enough. Pot's got no chance.
of course they can't tax it right now, it would have to be legalised first and there's a minefield of other debate to happen before you'd ever get through a measure legalising the stuff. Even if it would bring in tax revenue doesn't necessarily mean that it's a viable political move right now

insomniachollie wrote: Who is saying that they don't want to tax it? Of course they want to tax it. That's millions of extra dollars a year to be added to the budget. But, what I'm asking you- is people go about their daily business getting it tax free all day, every day- Why would they start going into a store to buy their weed? It's easy enough to call up a friend. |

Why did bootleg liquor get less profitable once prohibition was over? Some people will always be willing to go black market if it's cheaper, some will
always want the legitimacy and regulation that comes with commercial sale.
Some people may not even have it occur to them that they might get it cheaper if they go to the effort of calling around a few acquaintances - same way a lot of people don't bother to price compare for any product in general. It's there in the store, they hand over the money and get it and don't consider it any further |

Forget the damn alcohol versus marijuana debate. Either way, if you're doing it before you go to work each morning to go to work, you need help. If
you're drinking/smoking while or before you're driving then your a complete idiot.
