As I told you a couple of days ago, Garth Brooks is giving a mystery press conference this coming Thursday but it hadn't been announced what it was to be about, what time it was going to take place or even where. I had wondered if it was finally going to be announced that Garth would be doing a show in Vegas as speculated.
Well it looks like my wondering may have been correct. My radio buddy, Broadway, sent me this email yesterday...
(Garth)Will be in town thursday to sign the contracts and will start after the first of the year.
So there you go. Will Garth in fact be in Vegas? I hope so, I think that would be so cool. Guess we'll know for sure next week.
Update: Samantha just sent me the link to Robin Leach's article on the subject of Garth in Vegas. Thanks Samantha...
It now looks definite after weeks of rumors and speculation that country superstar Garth Brooks is coming out of retirement to become a resident headliner at the Wynn. He'll play in the theater that was to have been the longtime permanent home of the late Danny Gans.
Garth has performed only charity concerts since announcing his decision to quit recording and performing in 2001. Since his debut album in 1989, Garth has sold more than 114 million albums and is hailed as the biggest-selling solo country artist of the 20th century.
The official announcement about Garth is set for Thursday at the Encore/Wynn theater, with owner Steve Wynn handling the official duties. It will be carried live on Garth's official Web site GarthBrooks.com.

Garth Brooks says his retirement is over: "We're going to take the retirement roof off over our head, and I already feel taller."

Garth Brooks coming out of retirement; heading to Vegas? He's baaaack. Garth Brooks, the guy who stole Elvis Presley's crown as the top-selling solo artist in U.S. history, said at a news conference in Nashville today that he is ending his retirement, confirming rumors that had been swirling for weeks. Brooks, 47, retired in 2000 to spend more time with his children. He and fellow country star Trisha Yearwood, who married in 2005, live in Oklahoma. Now the next question is: What's he going to do? His last studio album, "Scarecrow," came out in 2001. That same rumor mill suggests that Brooks is headed to Las Vegas later today where he will announce an extended engagement there. Las Vegas media report that Brooks will be the headliner at the Encore/Wynn Theatre there. It's unclear when that run will start. The singer's Web site, Garthbrooks.com is promising exciting news and the announcement is expected to be made live there later today. (The site is slammed with traffic right now.) Stay tuned. | Lisa Gutierrez |
