I got a letter today from a creditor that Paypal reported us to (I can't really remember the story but it was when my boyfriend was selling computers on
eBay...they refunded money that wasn't in the account for some stupid reason and now the account is negative)...anyway, it said, "We have no other
choice but"...and I'm holding my breath reading it thinking "Ah crap"...and it says, "to insist you pay". Seriously? "We have
no choice but to insist you pay". Why not "We have no other choice but to bring this matter to Court if you don't pay"? It seems to me that
that'd scare people into paying more than what they said to me.

They can't threaten you with any type of punitive action in an effort to scare you into paying.

I'm sure it will result in a law suit if you don't pay.. Or just fuck your credit up, whatever..

"We have no choice but to insist you pay" Yeah, I'll get right on that.

My parents had an issue with a car that fucked up the day of the lease ending and they've been after my parents for probably 4ish years. My mom keeps telling them to sue her and they haven't yet and that was for a few thousand. It's just not worth bringing someone to Court over . I'm not really worried about my credit either. I have co-signers. Not a big deal to me.

Why don't you just pay it?

Because I'm not worried about it and I don't agree with how Paypal handled the situation.

Why is it you feel you shouldn't have to pay?

My parents' "case" has been through a few creditors and they're all the same way. My mother says the same thing to everyone that calls
("sue me"...which WAS advised by a lawyer BTW...she called one after the first few phone calls she got). Like I said...I'm not worried.

LOL. You'll be one of the ones that forgets all about the debt until they attach your pay or just take the money in your bank account.

I think Paypal blows too. They charged me twice one time and took over 8 MONTHS to refund my money! That's like robbery.

They've been after my parents for 4 years and have never done anything more than called a few times a month. The day I actually see it docked from my pay is the day I'll worry about it and/or do something. |
