I used to feel that way when I was like 17. Then I just got over it and got on the pill and never looked back.

I've been through 3 different types of bc and all of them have made me have 0 sex drive. I was on Nuvaring and just stopped...this is my first month off.
I'm thinking we'll probably use spermacide (if I can find the stuff!) and condoms. I hate using condoms though which sucks but ah well.

If you're only going to use barrier methods of birth control, you might want to look into using a diaphragm, cervical cap, or sponge (the Today Sponge is
back, and improved, or so I hear) along with a condom when you have sex.

I'm not sexually active right now, but if I were I'd probably use only condoms as well. The pill was fine at first, but then my body went kinda crazy
and even crazier when I got off of it. I don't wanna have to go through that experience again.

That's too risky for me. Just take the pill, and remember to take it CORRECTLY otherwise you are wasting your time.

To those who said they have migraine issues....have you tried a low-dose BC? I have chronic migraines and that happened to me too and had to go off BC, but
then I tried the Nuvaring and now the BC isn't causing my migraines anymore.

I use BC with no condoms but I would not use condoms with no BC on a regular basis.

We've been using only condoms for the better part of a year now and it's never once come off or ripped. I went on BC, realized the condoms weren't
going anywhere, so I went off. If it were to tear or come off, I'd get plan B. No big deal, really.

I do, although we've spoken about me going on the pill but I kinda don't want too. Gonna go see my doctor anyways.

All birth control methods have to be used correctly, every time, in order to be effective. People who take the low-dose (or progestin-only) pill need to be especially careful about taking it at the same time every day. Hormonal contraceptives are contraindicated in some women because of serious health problems like unsafe spikes in blood pressure, or a history of blood clots/clotting disorders. Those women should be diligent about their use of barrier forms of birth control, and use at least two forms together when having sex. That said, even women with a history of high blood pressure can safely take the pill if they're willing to either a) make lifestyle changes to correct
their hypertension or b) if their HTN is not lifestyle related, go on anti-hypertensive medication.

I would definitely go to your doctor and talk about options of another form of contraception. Tell her/him about your concerns and he/she will help you decide
on what's best for you. If you don't want to use an pill at all have you considered using spermicidal lube or a VCF (vaginal contraceptive film)? If
you can use 2 forms of BC that's better than just one.

P5 Teacher RN wrote:B.C. has treated my migraines. I used to get them frequently and my gyno noticed it on my health assesment. After discussing we figured out they seemed to be tied to certain times in my cycle. She suggested seasonque. Pretty much she gave a full explanation and 3 yrs later I have not have one migraine. It has changed my life in that sense. Depending on the trigger...mine was hormones. I would explore b.c. options regardless if you are worried good luck

And pretty pointless, really. I guess it doesn't hurt as long as you're still on BC but what a downer.

It's just what we've always done. Doesn't kill the mood at all for us.
Pull out and go where? On me? No thanks |
