Lol, sure it's a stupid question, but I'm moving to NYC in feb (all the way from Norway), and I wanna go to a concert in Philadelphia, but is it safe
to travel all alone? Don't have a car, so I guess I would take a bus or train....

I'd say the bus or train themselves would be fine. But the trip from the station to the venue and even being at the venue alone (especially depending on
the act) might not be. Is there somebody you could meet up with at the station to go with? Preferably somebody familiar with the city.

Just curious, why are you moving to NYC? I seriously want to spend a year in Sweden or maybe even Australia. I'm worried about finding a job, plus...I
don't speak Swedish
Anyways, I think it is safe...BUT you must use common sense. Don't look out of place. Make sure you planed your route and what your gonna do ahead of time. If possible, try to make this trip (in the daytime)when you arrive in the States before your actual concert. That way you know what to expect. Good luck and HAVE FUN!!! |

Which venue is the concert at? And you can take a cab from the bus/train station to the venue and back. I wouldn't suggest Septa for you since you
don't really know Philly, but I think you will be fine if you take a cab.

I'm having some second thoughts about this concert though... |

Like the poster said, anyplace is safe if you used common sense. And know how to defend yourself.

Philly is extremely safe, in my opinion. I have taken the bus/train/subway alone at night since I was a kid. The only concern I would have is you getting lost,
so I would take a cab from the train station straight to the venue unless you are a little more familiar with the city.

Someone else asked, but do you know where the concert is? Then we could probably give you some better advice on how to get there.

Ok, then you definitely want to get a cab. You could take the subway to Broad Street, and walk from there, but if you don't know the city well, a cab is
probably better. The train will bring you into Center City, and the concert venue is in South Philly. You might also want to consider getting a hotel room in
Philadelphia that night, because you might not make the last train back to NYC if you're going to a concert.

I can't wait but,
it's a bit scary as well. Don't know about jobs in Sweden, but don't worry about not knowing any Swedish, most Scandinavians speak English.
