I've been here for 3.5 years and took over someone's lease, so the management company hasn't touched anything in at least 4 years. They'll
recarpet and repaint and obviously bring in their own cleaning crew, so is a vacuum and a quick wipe down of the kitchen/bathroom good enough?

I would clean just enough that I wouldn't feel embarrassed to leave it that way, and clean enough that they don't bill you for damages or keep any
security deposit, if you had one.

Some places can be pretty picky, they will look at everything & charge up the wazoo if they can. Did you put down any money towards a deposit?

I would clean the kitchen/bathroom really well because it seems like every place I've ever moved into, the last tenant though that a quick wipedown was
sufficient. It wasn't.

If you're expecting to get some deposit money back clean it well enough. If you're not then just vacuum and wipe it down.

When I moved out of my apartment, it was spotless. I even wiped down the doors and cabinets so there were no finger prints.

i would leave it spotless because i wouldnt want the landlord to charge me for that or lose my entire deposit, i couldnt afford it. They charge you for
anything today!

I would clean everything - vacuum, wash the floors, clean the bathroom (including tub/shower), clean the kitchen (including oven), etc.
I wouldn't want to risk being charged. |

JulieAnne20 wrote:I've done that. I was going to go all out--I even bought new drip pans for the stove--but I said screw that because I knew they were going to replace just about everything anyway. I cleaned the bathroom and the kitchen really well, swept the carpet , and wiped the walls because they had handprints and the like on them. I got
back $26.

I just did the very minimum when I've moved out. I'm very clean anyway, so the place was not a mess. I always got my deposits back.

Just clean it. It's really not that hard, and you won't be risking a security deposit. If you're not that messy it shouldn't be that hard. If
you are that messy...then maybe you need to clean it.

They are going to charge you any way no matter how clean you leave it, especially if you are in a college town.

My sister rented a house that didn't include a washer and dryer. And she thought she was being courteous to both the landlord and the next renter to leave
them when she moved out. I mean, it's a free washer and dryer right? The landlord charged my sister to have them removed and to pay the staff to remove
them. Poor girl.
