I'm 24, would be 25 or 26 at the time I'd be looking to do this.
I pretty much would only do it if I could get into hotels (or maybe even a front of house position at a restaurant). I don't want to go to Disney to pick up trash or sell t-shirts. |

I wanted to do the hotel portion. My degree was in hospitality as well. When I did it- 5 years ago-we told them our preferences but we didn't know our job
untill we were accepted. They gave me a hotel job-but in a gift shop....oh well. My manager knew I wanted the hotel portion so I got to job shadow and I did a
special project with the disney reservation line which was kinda cool. I actually ended up at one of the Universal hotels the following year haha
One of my roommates worked at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and she learned so much. She said it was hard long hours but worth it in the long run. We never ever saw her b/c her hours were all over the place. I was 24 when I did the program and everyone in my building was around the same age range. |

^ I have to agree with this too. Unless you're like a huge Disney fanatic and you get a lot of college credits for it then...idk
 It's like cheap
labor and you get to live in a dorm-like residence and go to a park.

I was 22 when I did mine, I was a little bit towards the older end, but it didn't bother me. I worked with some CPs who were 24/26. My first set of
roommates ( there were 6 of us), 4 of them were older than me. One of my roommates was in her 30s and I have definitely seen some CPs in their 40s, 50s, and
60s. They have a program for people right out of high school now too so there are some real youngins. You would at least be rooming with people 21 and over.
It's almost impossible now to get one of the advanced internships without doing the regular program first... especially with the economy now. One of my friends did front desk on her CP and got an advanced internship houskeeping manager and she likes it. |

I did the program in the summer of 2006 and loved it. I did it just so I could have something to do that summer, not for any college credit (didn't get any
anyway) or to earn money or anything like that. I went in with absolutely no expectations. I didn't know what to expect at all. I had never even been to
Disney World before as a guest.
I was 22 when I went and lived in Chatam. I had 7 roommates (4 rooms, 2 girls per room) and we all got along really well. There was one pretty strange girl but she never hung out with us anyway. Between all my roommates, there was usually at least one around to hang out with. Whether it was working or just going to play, there were probably only 2 days that entire summer that I didn't go to the parks. A lot of the times I would get off work around 2 or 3 in the afternoon, head back to the apartment and find a roommate there and we'd turn around and head back to one of the parks to play. I worked Quick Service Food and Beverage at Pecos Bills Tall Tale Inn and Cafe in the Magic Kingdom. I pretty much only did table bussing, but the did train me on the register towards the end of my program. The job wasn't great, but my coworkers were a lot of fun. My shifts were mainly in the morning and I got a lot of ERs (early releases) so I could leave early. That resulted in less money, but that was never really a big deal for me. I still had enough to eat and do what I wanted otherwise. My experience at Disney was a really good one. I feel like it helped me a lot to become more outgoing (I wasn't at all before) because I had to be in my job. It gets pretty awkward wiping a table down for somebody and not talking to them. I also made some really good friends. We don't talk a ton anymore because we were from all over the country (and Puerto Rico!), but we keep up with each other on facebook and meet up when one of us is visiting someone else's town for work or for whatever other reason. |
