I would MUCH rather pick it out. I don't want a Carrie/Aiden situation.

It's not hard to grasp my taste in jewelry. I don't wear much jewelry and what I do wear is very petite/simple/plain. Me, too, but guys have no idea. My bf got me a cute pendant, but the necklace is the shiniest thing ever. I want him to surprise me with it after asking my sister what I would like best.

I believe his actual words were something like you seem like the type of girl that wants to pick out her own ring, right? And I laughed. Then we made out. It
was in the midst of discussing other details about a wedding/marriage so it probably wasn't as random or unnatural as it sounds.

I want him to pick it out - though over the last few years I've dropped enough hints that he pretty much knows what I want (Which isn't exactly
complicated since I want a solitaire). We've been together for so long, it just kinda seems 'expected' that we would go pick it out together versus
it being any sort of surprise/romantic. Its somewhat important to me that he figure it out himself

I would tell him that if he ever thought about proposing, ask one of my close friends for ring ideas. They know me best and know what I want. I want to be
surprised.

My husband and I went shopping for my engagement ring setting together, and I'm glad we did. We lived together for several years before getting engaged,
and so it seemed natural that we approach the engagement together, the same way we had discussed the decision to get married together.

We picked out mine together. I really don't know if anyone I know would have had the slightest idea what kind of ring I would like to even give him hints.
You can still be surprised by the proposal--I was. There just wasn't a ring.

Well one day my fiance brought me to various jewelry stores. So nonchalantly I showed him styles I liked. He proposed to me in Alaska on our 7 yr anniversary
with a beautiful marquise ring. He actually bought a princess cut ring when we lived in Chicago that I didn't know about but he decided to return it when I
complained about princess cut rings. We moved before he could propose in Chicago so he bought my ring in AK.
