I don't know if this is normal or not, I'm hoping that it is a defect. This morning I was driving to work (my car is brand new it only has 200 miles on
it which I put on it) anyway, I'm driving to work and it's still dark out. I'm going about 65 and I hit a puddle that I didn't see. My car went
into the other lane and then back. It was so freaking scary. I don't know if it is just shitty driving on my part, which I don't really think because I
have been driving this thing like an angel. Should I call the dealer, or do you think this is just how it is going to be?

Would you tell the dealer? It just seems like a fluke to me, I wouldn't worry.

Is there a possibility you hit ice instead of water?

The make of car you drive has nothing to do with the fact that you were hydroplaning.

I have a Civic and that hasn't happened to me. It sounds more like driver error.

civics are pretty comparable to corolla's I think and corolla's are horrible in rain and wind.

Sounds like you hydroplaned to me? If you hit a puddle fast enough you can definitely lose control of the vehicle.

That's hydroplaning, it can happen in any car at any time.

Yeah 65 in the rain is way too fast, especially for a car as small and light as a Civic.
What did you drive before this? |

I guess I'm just not used to that, I had a CRV for years and it never had that problem.
Maybe it just happens more in a little car? I don't know. |

You definitely hydroplaned. Civics aren't that great in bad weather. Just wait until you have to drive it in the snow.

I was on a highway at the time, so I wasn't speeding and I was just following the other traffic. So I guess from now on I'm going to have to be in the
slow lane going to work in the rain...bleh. I guess that is better then crashing the car.

Yea, I'm not excited for the snow. I moved to an area that gets quite a bit more then I'm used to....and it's all hills. Yay.
Man I loved my car yesterday Now I'm 2nd guessing my choice. |

Because you had different tires and entirely different handling. But you can hydroplane in any kind of car.
