Maybe my hair is just too thick, but I feel like any attempt at curling my hair becomes a lion's mane type situation. (And yes, I know not to start at the root.)

Curl with a flat iron.

I am convinced that real hair can't look like that. It has to be extensions.

I have long thick hair, while and it naturalluy waves so I usually dont do much to it. But for that look I would straighten my hair first with an iron and then
go back in with a curler for the curls, when I straighten first it takes a lot of the lions main fullness out.

My daughter gets her hair to look like that with no extensions, but she uses hot rollers and then brushes it out a bit. Her hair isn't really thick though,
it's just long.

I've been trying to get my hair to look like that for a few months now, and I have tried my flat iron, rollers and a curling iron.

I want a similar look for Halloween. I'm so tired of the stick-straight hair. It seems like a pain in the ass to have to straighten it first (which takes
an hour for me) and then have to curl it, though.

My hair is naturally curly, too, so I'd have to straighten it first anyway to get that look. My hair is usually just too big anyway.

My hair is really thick and it sort of achieves that look about an hour after I roll it, when the weight of my hair starts to pull the curl out

Semirhage626 wrote:I cut off all my hair a few months ago, but that is what worked for mine. Granted, it never looked that good, but for my pin-straight hair, it actually would hold for a while. I'd either use hot rollers and wait until the weight of it pulled the curl out, or I'd wrap the bottom eight inches of my hair around a curling iron, then brush it out a bit with my fingers (never with a brush!) |

I do that all the time. But my hair is naturally curly so I can't just take a curling iron to it. I need to blow dry it out and straighten it first and
THEN use a large curling iron. Then I can get my hair to look like that even though it's curly and thick

I learned how to do that by watching britney spears getting her hair done on some special.

Put some leave in conditioner on your hair, mostly just the ends that'll keep it from looking like a lion. I add a little bit of hairspray to my hair before curling but that's because my hair doesn't hold a curl by itself. When your hair is completely dry curl it (preferably with a straight iron) but curl just the middle of your hair! Do not curl all the way to the tips, leave the tips out by a little bit. Let it set for little while then gently comb it out (or finger comb it). |

When I had long hair my hair did that naturally so I never really had to use hot tools to get the look. However, for yourself, like someone said you want to
use a hair straightener because you're less likely to get those tight curls and then have to brush them out. If you have a curling iron, you want a 1"
and then do very loose curls, or tight and then brush them out/finger comb them out.

I get something very similar to that when I sleep with my hair in a chunky braid, otherwise I use a curling iron and spritz some hairspray after...my hair is
really straight though so it doesn't hold this style well
I love Kate's hair |

I'd use a straightener on top and roll my hair in curlers around the bottom.
