Heather Locklear got Ashlee Simpson fired from Melrose Place
![]()
Heather Locklear doesn't just play a bitch on TV! We hear the seasoned actress, who starred in the original Melrose Place, got into the mother of all catfights with actress-singer Ashlee Simpson on the set of the of The CW's Melrose revival, as a rivalry ensued over who would be the show's official "Queen Bee". When the dust settled, Heather was the last the woman standing, Star Magazine claims in its Nov. 9 issue.
While producers insist Ashlee's departure is storyline-dictated, production insiders tell Star the 25-year-old wife and mother was railroaded by an envious Heather, who was gunning for Ashlee from the moment she arrived on set for an "Amanda Returns" guest arc airing next month.
"Heather was jealous of Ashlee immediately," says an insider. "She knew Ashlee was one of the bigger names on set, and she wanted her gone so she could make it her show. Heather is very political and calculating…"
On Oct. 22, The CW abruptly announced that Ashlee along with co-star Colin Egglesfield had been booted from the show. Producers are hoping Heather's familiar face will be a show-saving draw for the critically-panned and ratings-challenged Melrose 2.0. Informants say that's precisely why bosses had no problem ditching Ashlee - who will exit her role as Violet Foster - after 48-year-old Heather complained she'd been poking fun of her age to other members of the cast and crew.
"She was a thorn in Heather's side from the beginning. Ashlee came off as insincere and a wannabe diva….Her lack of talent didn't help her…She feels like a fool."
Heather Locklear reprises her role as Amanda on The CW's Melrose Place Nov. 17.

I thought Heather was still in rehab or something. She's had some issues herself. Both she and her ex husband with drinking.

It's not true.
Amazing! It took four Star magazine reporters to come up with a single page of text, and still it's so riddled with inaccuracies that it seems more a work of fiction than an article. In a piece titled, "Ashlee Forced Out! By Heather," the Star claims, "Heather Locklear was gunning for Ashlee Simpson-Wentz from the moment she set foot on the Melrose Place set. Now Ash is history - and the prime-time diva couldn't be more thrilled!" According to a so-called "source," Locklear "was jealous of Ashlee immediately… She knew Ashlee was one of the bigger names on the set, and she wanted her gone so she could make it her show. Heather is very political and calculating." Adds the "source" in what is clearly a made-up quote about Locklear: "For a sunshiny California girl, she sure has ice running through her veins." The cutting dialogue, the intrigue… this fabricated story is almost as dramatic as an episode of "Melrose Place." The article also goes way off base when it states how Simpson-Wentz and her onscreen love interest Colin Egglesfield were informed their characters were off the show: "Producers told them by e-mail they were being let go!" Well, Gossip Cop spoke to sources involved in the production, and here is what we learned. For starters, Star violated Journalism 101, says a source, who related that the magazine "never called to fact-check." Had Star done the basics, the magazine would have found out what Gossip Cop did which, according to a highly placed source, is that their story is "100 percent not true." That same impeccable insider said, "Ashlee is a total pro, and Heather is a total pro," but emphatically stressed, that Simpson-Wentz's departure had "nothing to do with Heather, but was part of the original plan [for her character]." Additionally, that whole thing about her finding out she was gone via e-mail… the insider said that, too, was "completely false," and told Gossip Cop she was personally informed by producers. Gossip Cop has said it before and we'll say it again: We think we're developing Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from having to repeatedly type the words "Star magazine" and "not true." http://www.gossipcop.com/heather-locklear-did-not-have-ashlee-simpson-moved-out-of-melrose-place/

Oh, Ashlee is SUCH A HUGE STAR and so popular she was not fired really-it was just that old hag Heather was threatened and had to slam her down poor beautiful huge star Ashlee!!!!!! If anything, Heather would go after Katie Cassidy-she is the hottest/biggest star on that show female-wise at the moment. |

The guy who was kicked off said that it was not ogrinally part of the plan so I think thats bullshit. But I doubt Heather got her kicked off because Ashlee was
saying on twitter how fun it was to work with Heather.

I never got the hatred for Ashlee Simpson. Is she extordinarily talented? Certainly not. But a lot of stars aren't and they have tons of fans. Ashlee gets more hatred from this board and other boards I've gone to than people like Kim Kardashian and Jon & Kate, and they're famous for doing NOTHING. |

I used to hate Ashlee just because of how ungrateful she was. Like, when she was first releasing her cd and there were multiple videos of her whining non-stop
about how she hated having to do promotion or bitching about "being forced to do Leno" and other shit. Like, STFU you had fame handed to you and so
many artists would be grateful to be "forced to have to do, like, interviews and stuff"
I don't really hate her now though. She was probably just like most teenagers-snot-nosed and selfish. I certainly was when I was 18 or however old she was. |

Mistress Darcy wrote: Thanks for your explanation. I'm not a huge fan of Ashlee. In fact, I barely pay attention to her. I will admit to liking a few of her songs, though. I do feel bad that her musical career seemed to have come to a screeching halt after that whole "Saturday Night Live" debacle. I think people were unnecessarily cruel towards her. There are so many popular singers who can't sing that well, but none of their careers came to an end because they lip-synched on a TV show. |
