And I don't care what age you are, if you come to our door and you are dressed up and say trick-or-treat, I'll give you candy. No costume, though, no candy.
An older man just came to my house trick or treating.

Trick-or-treating is always on Halloween here, too, never any other day. Weird.

We had trick or treating last night here! I live in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, and it's not apparently normal here. But growing up it was aaaaaalways the Thursday before Halloween! My sister and I took my baby niece around; we totally got tired of lugging her up and down steps after awhile and I was going door to door with a purple
pumpkin and she was in the driveway in her stroller. |

I think I would have told this older man, that your treats are for children who come to the door dressed in costumes, not grown men.

Just A Little Stitious wrote:Ikr. I had never heard of it until about 10 yrs ago. I know that in Toms River NJ they have a huge parade they say is world famous. I still haven't heard of anyone who knows about it who isn't from the area. Anyway- they do the parade on the 31st so TorT is the day before. I think it is stupid and should be reversed. Jmho though. As for the towns that have to schedule it so that people know when it is- just do it on Halloween.

I don't see why everyone is making such a big deal about thursday night trick or treating. It's just what we do here (I'm in central PA too) and
always have done. Everyone here is used to it and knows when to go. It's not like we're coming from central PA to your house in NY and knocking on your
door on Thursday night expecting candy so who cares?

I got some
funny looks from people (seeing as though I am 24!), but I was always really gracious about taking candy. I took one thing for "her" (if it was a
Kit Kat it was sooo Aunt Erin's!) and only took another if they insisted I take one, too. I wouldn't just take a handful, especially since she
doesn't even have teeth yet!
