I was aware of the hypes and raves before going into the movie and it definitely deserved them all. It was THAT good. What I loved about it is the fact that it is so raw and honest. So many scenes are so hard to watch because of the brutality and how real they are. Nothing in this movie is "Hollywood". The actors are all amazing. Mo'nique's final scene is so powerful. It will make you hate her, pity her, and then cry for her. The newcomer Gabby (Precious) will for sure get an Oscar nom for her performance. She is very natural and seeing her talk after the movie during the Q&A is like night and day. Total transformation. The character is not just a victim. I'm sure everyone's heard about how great Mariah is in the movie and she is. She held her own with Mo'nique and Gabby and was completely natural and committed to the character. Acting wise, she was better than the Paula Patton, who plays the teacher. Paula kind of just floats by the surface. I don't know if it's because of the script. i don't think she brought anything special to her character like Mo'nique, Gabby, and Mariah did. I'm not sure how well it'll do at the box office since it is such a tough film to watch, BUT, there is a happy ending. Definitely go see it when it's out!

And then Oprah and Tyler Perry came in to distribute it and now the buzz has seriously blown up. It's the same buzz that Slumdog Millionaire had the year before. I feel like this will be the "Slumdog" this year, but I think the acting roles will actually triumph. I can't wait to see it.

Spoiler [+] I looked it all up on Wiki, and in the book, she finds out her dad died of AIDS and then discovers she's HIV+ while the baby is HIV-. Do they keep that in the movie as well?

It ends with Spoiler [+] her and Mo'nique at the social worker's office and Mo'nique broken down and started explaining why she did all those things that she did to her and wants her back, but Precious told her she'll never see her again. Precious took her kids and walked out. She smiles as she hold her kids walking down the street as the camera zooms out.

They didn't get too graphic with that, did they?? Is it something that's implied ?????

I read that a fake nose was placed on her, but she had a terrible allergic reaction, so it had to be taken off.
