to come in? My job called me this morning but I was sleeping, so they left a voicemail. My manager said I didn't have to come in today and to call her if I
have any questions. That's fine and all, because I'm so glad to have a weekend day off. But it kind of worries me.
Maybe they just had too many
people or something.
Why would your job call you to tell you that you don't have

I know that where I work (AE) they call people off because they've scheduled too many people and they're just kinda slow. Also happens if they've
gone over on hours for the week and if they can eliminate people coming in then more power to them.

Okay, thanks. When I heard the voicemail, my mind immediately went to, "Oh no! I'm fired."

Yeah, if they schedule too many people they might call me and say I don't have to work. I wouldn't worry about it. Tonight is going to be really slow
at my work because of Halloween.

As mentioned above, we sometimes tell our employees they don't have to come in if it's really slow (I work at a movie theater).

Yeah if we're slow we'll do that, it's not a big deal you're not being fired or anything

Nah, they rarely fire you so courteously. They usually make you get up, dressed and show up to tell you that you don't have a job.

"just call if u have any questions.."
um.. its illegal for her to just cut your shift out.. you have the choice to go in and work the full shift, or not. |
