Do you think the upside-down cross is a satanic symbol, a Christian symbol (St Peter was crucify head down) or that it could be both?
If you see someone wearing an upside-down cross necklace, would you first think "oh, a satanist" or "oh, a Christian"? Or maybe "oh,
a new fashion trend"???

I know the symbolism with St.Peter but I've NEVER seen anyone wear an upside down cross for religious reasons...

I'm pretty sure it's not seen as Christian, because the murder who killed the family down the street had upside down crosses on his myspace and it was
all over the news and one of my friends who's pretty religious was very offended that he was insulting the religion and all.

I do remember a big debate when Chelsea Clinton wore an upside down cross.

it isn't mainstream "Christian," but any Catholic would (should) be able to tell you that it's the symbol of Peter, the Apostle, and first
Pope, because he was crucified upside down in Rome.

I didn't know the meaning, satanic or Christian, until I read about it today. Honestly, I would not have thought much of it if I've seen someone wearing it (well, I did but on an artist, not in real life). So, I guess that depending on who is wearing it, you can imagine that they are either wearing it because they are Christian or satanic? Shouldn't a symbol mean only one thing, not two, especially when the two meanings are such opposite? |

i don't think Catholics would choose to wear the symbol as jewelry. and i don't really see why the symbol would be filed under "Christian,"
really, when it has specific rather than general meaning.
i guess you could take into account the type of person wearing it, but we all know that appearances don't tell it all. |

I remember when I did that, thinking I was setting a new trend, and then someone yelled at me for worshiping Satan
