What are some good/cheap hotels in Chicago. Go for the first time in about three weeks also the first time leaving California.

do you want like a fancy hotel or just one that is clean/safe? Do you want one in the city or near the airport?

what is your price range. downtown is going to be somewhat expensive. i'd look at hotwire. i got a really good deal through them on a nice hotel.

Near the city and clean/safe, nothing fancy we are just sleeping there.

ok b/c I know of a hotel that is near Ohare and has a free shuttle and it's like $50 a night but it's super clean and safe and actually not bad at all.
I always stayed there when I would have a flight out of Chicago early in the morning. (I live 3.5 hours south of Chicago so it was nice to have a cheap place
to spend the night before an early flight.)
But if you want something in the city, I can't help you. sorry.

I suggest trying the "name your own price" thing on Priceline. Whenever my family stays in Chicago we use that, and we usually get really nice places
downtown (like the Hilton or Hyatt) for about $80 a night.

The Congress runs around $135 is nice and in a great location:
