Actually, I was always taught to include them in business school. But, I honestly can't stand them. I'm impatient. If I was a hiring manager, I'd want to know what you've done & how many years you've done it --so I can decide if I want to call you for an interview to learn more about you specifically.
The point of the cover letter is to get an interview & sell yourself, but I think it is a bunch of bullshit. I don't want to read about your fake excitement for meeting me & why you think you are a good fit for the position. I'll decide if you are a good fit if I see you have the experience/background on your resume to get an interview.
That is why I could never do HR. haha
