I usually squeeze some lemon and honey into a cup of hot tea. It helps soothe my throat when it hurts.

i've never done it w/water. i always put honey and lemon into hot tea. it works wonders for me. i assume it would have the same effect w/water but would
probably taste better in tea, if you are a tea drinker.

It does help soothe but I'd start with a warm water and salt gargle then get your nice honey/lemon drink to sip on afterward.

It's just that the salt water mixture is good to fight off any possible throat infection, the lemon/honey is for soothing. Two different uses.

Honey has antibacterial properties as well, so it's great for a sore throat.

It only made my throat feel better when I was actually drinking it when I had mono. The honey was good before I went to bed, though.. and it kills the
bacteria.

When you have a sore throat you want to avoid anything with acid in it, because it can make your [sore] throat worse. So, leave out the lemon. Also, avoid
orange juice, grapefruit, etc.

go get some Throat Coat tea! I have used that for YEARS. it's by Traditional Medicinals and i just swear by it.
Whenever i just get a tickle in my throat, i start drinking that and get relief right away. I read that it's the slippery elm that mkes it so effective. It
smells good and tastes good and it gets even better if you add honey to it.
