My sister is a health care professional and she turned it down as well. She said all the doctors she works for did the same thing. If doctors are refusing it,
I sure as hell would too, but I can't get one anyways because of my egg allergy.

I got my vaccine today...the nasal spray version. I have a slight headache and my nose is running a little, but this should only last for about a day. Kinda
stinks, but to me, it's better than getting it for a week or more!
I work at a daycare, go to school several times a week, and will be traveling this month. So I was pretty happy to get it today, just for peace of mind if nothing else! |

Good for you. As long as you did your research and made an educated decision based on your findings, you did the right thing.

We have a rash of pregnant women in the midwest that have died recently because for whatever reason this strain is harder to fight off in pregnant women. Good
luck.
ETA: Yes I am in healthcare, yes I do work in a hospital. No, I don't normally get flu shots. However, if I was pregnant, I would get H1N1 or would get it for my kid. The regular flu strains kill 40-80 kids per year. H1N1 has already taken 80 kids in the US before October.

My sons school pressured me into making him get it. He only got 1 dose and gets the 2nd one on the 16th I believe.
I really didn't want him to get it but they kept calling and pushing it. |

And yeah...if doctors aren't getting it, there's no way in hell I am. |

I am 34 weeks pregnant and got the H1N1 flu shot last week....it didnt even hurt one bit and i was expecting my arm to at least be sore, but i had not one
single symptom.
They say on the news that this is just a different strain of the regular flu shot...and pregnant women have been getting the regular flu shot for YEARS.....I figured it was worth it to get the H1N1 shot when i had the chance....especially since millions of people are lining up across the US to get it..... I feel confident with my decision

Yeah my bf works at a hospital and he said a lot of the doctors said no to getting the shots. There seriously has not been any type of real testing done with
this vaccine to be all willy nilly and getting it just because

I feel like the hysterical ones give those of us who did choose to get it a bad name. I sure as hell wasn't panicking when I went in to get mine
today.

I wouldn't trust it either. A few of my friends are nurses and they had to get it but if they had the choice, would have declined

My grandpa got his test results back in 48 hours...? Two days before he died of pneumonia.

As of last week 14 children have died. That's more than the seasonal flu and the year hasn't started yet.
Pregnant women are 4 times more likely than the general population to be hospitalized or die. These are the facts so far, not hysteria. I don't think everyone should get vaccine if they don't want it. But I think it's wise for those whom are high risk to get it. This vaccine is just like every other flu shot, made exactly the same way, that's been tested for years. I was afraid of it too, until I researched it and talked to my OB's and other drs about it. It's your choice. But people need to stop talking about people only getting it because of the hysteria. Some of us are at higher risk for complications. Not only from this flu, but any flu. This flu has just shown itself to bring along more complications than the regular flu. |
