Hoodie Girl wrote:Really, that doesn't roll over to next month? That sucks.
However much gets put on my EBT card. Sometimes there is still around $20 left at the end of the month. It doesn't get rolled over to the next month which is a little annoying but whatever...
How much do you spend on groceries a month?

cheese, deli meat, etc.

Just groceries it would probably be $80 to $100.
But going to the store I don't buy just groceries. I gotta have air fresheners, I gotta have stuff for my cats, I gotta have soap or tampons or something and by the time I get to the check out stand, it's usually $100 to $120 and that's with coupons and ads from different stores that Walmart will honor. And I go shopping twice a month. So roughly $200. This past weekend I made it out with like $50. I was shocked. lol. |

We may spend $200 on groceries but we do eat out A LOT. I buy lunch 2-3 times a week at work and we have supper out maybe twice a week? I blame this on living
in a super trendy neighbourhood and having so many cool restaurants to choose from

Like today, I've had a bagel, a bowl of cereal, some fruit, and just now I had a burrito. That's probably all I'll have, too. |

$400 for 2 people. We pack our breakfasts and lunches every day and have a home cooked dinner 6 days a week. My bf eats a lot though so that might be why we
spend so much.
Every week usually get bananas, apples, tomatoes, spinach, lettuce, a couple onions, broccoli, 2 cartons of eggs, milk, shredded cheddar cheese, string cheese, OJ, greek yogurt, nuts, tortillas, bread, buns, beans of some sort, oats/oatmeal, ground turkey, boneless chicken breast, cat food, and frozen veggies. Plus whatever is needed for whatever I have planned for dinner. |

Last year I did but as of Sept I've had my own apartment. It's within a mile of campus but privately owned.

I eat out a lot, so my numbers are kinda skewed.
Food seems to run out so quickly at my house. It sucks.

I spend way too much. Granted, I pretty much buy everything at the grocery store (advil, paper products, cleaning supplies etc.) but we probably average about
$600 a month too for a family of 3. Our diets are very healthy but I think that is what costs me.
In my part of the country (NE) it seems organic and natural foods are more expensive than "regular" food. For example, we drink organic almond milk or rice milk (about $2.89 for 32 oz or 1/4 gallon) and my son gets Horizon Organic DHA milk which is $3.89 for a half gallon. Regular milk is like $3 something for a gallon. We buy organic cereal for all and bread and veggies and fruit. We don't eat beef or pork which I've found to be cheaper (we eat lots of turkey, salmon etc). Really the only snacks we get are pretzels and snacks for the baby (organic bars etc). It adds up very very fast. Oh and we don't eat out much or get takeout other than sushi maybe 1X/mo. Oh and I also shop at Costco for things. |

Lukadeem wrote:Yeah I eat a lot of food too. It's all healthy but it adds up! I've had almonds and raisins, 2 eggs, oatmeal, 2 open-faced homemade sloppy joes, string cheese, yogurt, an apple, 2 chicken drumsticks, snap peas, green beans, and a potato so far today. It's only 1600ish calories, so I need to eat a little more soon.

Oh, and I forgot the coffee. Coffee alone is like $10/wk.

cheese, deli meat, etc.
Summer I'm back at my parents so
she'll probably get her own place then.
