I worked at Kohl's for almost 2 years, before quitting

When I started, I made about $ 7.50 an hour working cashier before moving to shoes. Kohl's isn't open on Thanksgiving or Christmas.


Overall, it was the WORST job I've had. The managers at my store, treated us all like shit. If we had questions about floorsets, signs, anything.. they made us seem like we were too stupid to do a single thing. I was lucky enough to have one manager, who was such a sweetheart, but sadly she left after getting lung cancer and dying a few months later. Working in shoes was horrible. I would work between 4 hours to 8 hours, ALONE in the department, while being called every five minutes up to register. And then I would get bitched at for not having the work done, or leaving the department in a "bad" condition. And asking for credits? It becomes a fucking joke. Almost everyone had a Kohl's charge. The 09's are just as bad as the managers too.

The hours aren't that great either. You could give them full time hours, and you'll be lucky to get at least 8-12 hours a week. They were horrible at making schedules for all the departments.

Shit got old real fast. It came to a point, that I would HATE coming into work. Like, I would feel so sick getting up in the morning to be there for 8 hours. The day I quit, I felt so much better.

Granted, I worked in a totally different store from the one you want to apply in. I hope that, if you do get a job there, your time there will be a lot better than what I had to go through. IMO, you should try a supermarket that has a union. That way you have the protection of a union, and that you get 16+ hours a week.
