do you worry that they think you are leaving them forever. This may seem childish to some, if so move on. It will be the first time we are leaving her and im
sure im going to cry. Do you think your dog knows your coming back?

My cousin has this Pet Spa/Doggy Day Care place and she's actually going to be on Animal Planet! It's so cool.. at her place the dogs have a full yard with like, jungle gyms.. and the shop is set up kind of like a home.. and she lets them out all day and only crates them at night if she absolutely has to or if they are used to it/problem dogs. If they're not- she actually BRINGS THEM TO HER HOUSE! She has this huge 3,000 sqft house and 11 dogs. It's wild. They have their own rooms and this huge field that's fenced in. It's really cool. My other cousin cleans her house: she doesn't think it's very cool. |

I don't even have a dog and I'd feel bad. I had to drop my friends dog for boarding once and she didn't think anyone would come get her.
Just think how excited shell be when you get back! |

My dog loved going away! Of course we felt horrible so we paid extra for like doggie massages and doggie pizza parties and shit.

I'm leaving this week-end and my mom is coming over to feed my cats. I feel bad that they'll be all lonely and missing me.

Omg I wish I could have that as my job. I would love on everyones dog while they were at work!
The place we are taking her to are the people who do the training classes so we know them and they love our dog. They have a super nice place to. Like, I know she will be ok but I feel bad, im sure i will be more upset than she is, but I really want this vacation so its not like im changing my mind!! lol Our other dog is a toy poodle so shes easy, my grandma and gramps love her to death and always watch her. Last time we were there my gramp got out a piece of bread from the fridge to feed her cause 'she looked hungry' then after a tiny piece he thought he was bad for giving it to her cold so he toasted it!!! I swear! |

The first time we left our rescue dog I worried that he would have issues because he had a little case of separation anxiety when we would leave him...but we
take him to Camp Bow Wow which lets him play with other dogs and he's not kenneled the entire day, plus I can check up on him on web cam if I want to see
how he's doing.

The first and last time I boarded my cat, for a week, she developed a nervous condition and licked a bald patch on her hindquarters. For the next two and a
half years, she continually licked her lower half bald.

My boyfriend and I went away for a weekend in October and we left our dog with some friends. I cried so hard once we got back in the car to leave. I think I
missed her more then she missed me. lol

Yes. I don't board her at a kennel but she stays at a friends house. When I first took her over there he told me that for 2 days she would go up to the
open door and just sit at the screen and wait. I cried when he told me that (I suck). Now she's so used to it and is basically like 'bye bitch'
when I drop her off.

It really all depends on their personality. I worked at a kennel in high school. Some dogs think it's great and are excited to be there around all the
other dogs. Some dogs literally sit in the corner scared and stay there til their owner comes back. Most of the time, the dogs are just scared/nervous at first
to be in a new place. After a few hours/a day, they fit right into the schedule and get used to everything. Honestly, if your kennel has a special section for
older or quiet/shy dogs, I'd have her put there. It's usually much calmer and quieter in that room and less stressful.
She'll be ok.

And guess what, its a camp bow wow too, I will have to ask if they let them all play! I hope so, my mabel is very social and very submissive to other dogs,
she never starts fights. Shes so gentle she was playing with my moms month old shiz tzu and never hurts her!

I always feel awful dropping a pet off anywhere. For our dog, we started taking her to the Petsmart Pet Hotels and signing her up for several hours of playtime
with the other dogs each day. She was always super excited to see us again but you could tell she'd had fun.

My dogs enjoy it because the people LOVE them.
They spent 18 days in a kennel in January while we were on vacation. I think they did go out for two days because my brother went to get them for two days but I don't remember. |

I don't know if all the Camp Bow Wow's are the same but the one we take our dog to has three different areas for the dogs to interact, the smaller
dogs, medium and large dogs. My dog would actually hop the corral fences they had and go from group to group but he's super social and sweet so they just
let him do what he wanted. But each group of dogs had access to the outside and toys and whatever. It's a great setup, my dog loves going there and
he's exhausted when we pick him up.

toastnojelly - The reason I'm at that point is because for a while there I was going away every other weekend. I guess the good thing about his house is
that he has two dogs too so she goes from being the only dog to being able to play with the others.
I want to take her to camp bow wow once or a camp like that just so I can see how she handles it. At some point my friend is not going to have his house anymore and then I'll have to do something like that. I think once you've done it it's easier the next time for both you and the dog, especially if they are being board at the same place. |

I don't board my dog very often but when I do I take him to a place that doesn't ever kennel them, they're just allowed to roam around and play all
they want. He has serious separation anxiety usually but when I take him there he's so excited to go play that I don't think he notices I'm not
there with him. It's a lot harder for me than it is for him I think lol.

You guys are making me feel a lot better! We are gonna go check out the place, I hope they have the play areas like they are showing on the website. They tell
people to stop whenever they want to see whats happening. They have been into dogs for like 20 years training and showing and that crap. Im glad they board.
I am glad with her that we did research on what to do with dogs when you first get them, we didnt with our poodle and she Hates other dogs. We never socialized her. Mabel is our social butterfly! |

You'll feel better once you see the place. I called after a few hours to make sure she was okay. Our dog was overly social and LOVED being around other
dogs so I'm assuming that's why she loved it so much.
