How they still manage to surprise me with how totally weird they all are, I don't know...but they do.

We were outside and one kid was all "LOOK! A plane! It's American." So about 8 of them got in a straight line, put their hands on their hearts,
and recited the pledge of allegience to it...and then immediately broke out into a rendition of "Grand Old Flag."

Why didn't you? Because you hate America?

I don't think they ever taught us Grand Old Flag in my elementary school.

They may all be homosexual! I won't know for probably another 10 years. Maybe less, depending on just how flamboyant they become.
And yes, I do hate America. I'm plotting its demise now, starting by encouraging my kids to act in cult-ish ways when they see airplanes. |

They are crazy as hell. I'm convinced that my students are a special kind of crazy, though. Very special.
And oh yeah, our kids are taught GOF instead of the Star Spangled Banner. Which doesn't make sense to me, because at baseball games, you sing the national anthem before the game starts. And what's the point in learning something that won't be sung at baseball games and other sporting events? Really now. |

Really? That works I guess.
I remember having to recite the pledge and sing the national anthem each morning in my first elementary school. When I went to a new school in 2nd grade, I was so shocked that we didn't sing the anthem after the pledge. |

LOL Yes, take comfort in the fact that whenever you have any group of kids in one place at one time, they'll collectively take some very strange turns.
