Castilian Spanish (aka Spain Spanish) has a different dialect, I believe. If you're from the US I would just learn Mexican Spanish.

It is the same as comparing British English to American English. There are some differences in some words and slang.

You also have to be careful if you learn Spain Spanish. There are a few common words that they use there, that if you use in any other country or to people
from a Latin American country, they will be so offended. For example, coger is a common verb used in Spain (meaning "to catch"), but anywhere else it
means "to fuck".
I would recommend learning either Mexican Spanish or Latin American Spanish (if that's an option). It's safer that way. Trust me. I learned Spain Spanish and had a couple of interesting conversations with Ecuadorians before someone let me in on the secret. |
