And what was it when you were a teenager?

Basically my mom would stop whatever I was doing, tell me never to do it again and why it was wrong. Same when I was older. She explained why it was wrong and
why I should never do it again. Also the whole "I'm disappointed in you" thing. It worked.

Spankings until 12. No discipline at all after that, at ALL. My poor dad didnt know how to punish me. (my dad raised me on his own) I sometimes wish he would
have been more strict though. I did some stupid stuff as a teenager.

My uncle does a two finger slap on the top of the head (my aunt was my babysitter when I was a child). It didn't necessarily hurt a lot but it just made
you feel stupid as hell when he did it. My parents always said "I'm going to call Uncle Mike." and it usually made us stop in our tracks. it
sounds so minor now, but we realllly hated the 2 finger slap
"I'm disappointed in you" was a bitch when I was a teenager. I was really close to my parents, so when they said that it killed me. ESPECIALLY when my father said it. |

Hmm never really intensely disciplined, I was sent to my room a few times, but I never really did anything required insane discipline.
My brother sure did though, he was just grounded a lot, lost his TV, phone and internet privledges kind of thing. |

Timeouts. No Full House/Clarissa Explains It All/Punky for that week. (Killer!) I was also a total booknerd so sometimes my mom would take away what I was
reading.
As a teen they I would either not be allowed to go out with friends or they would take my car away. |

As a child my parents would spank my brother and I, or worse, use a belt for spanking. They didn't hit us that hard, but man, the sound of my dad opening the closet to grab the belt, hearing the metal clasp jingle down the hallway scared the shit out of me. That was the worst part about it, the anticipation. As a teenager, my parents were pretty lenient. They always threatened to ground me, but it never happened. Never took my phone/tv/car away. But I really didn't do anything that would merit a grounding anyway, at least nothing I got caught for. |

"Go to bed early" as a child... nothing really as a teenager.

My dad was an older Cuban, so he'd hit us with anything close to him (as most hispanic parents do lol). Usually his belt, though, or his hand. He once hit
my older brother with a plastic skateboard. And he was strong when we were kids, so it really hurt. My mom said she used to get scared sometimes because my dad
would get so angry that she'd have to yell at him to stop.
Pre-teen and teenage years it was just like...a two hour lecture. I almost wished it would have still been getting hit because he just talked for. e. ver. He tried to ground us but after 15 minutes he'd feel bad and we were ungrounded |

I wasn't grounded I was always put on "restriction" or had the TV taken out of my room for a week. And if I slammed my bedroom door I would have
to keep on slamming it until I was tired.
Teenager: nothing really just the same as above |

As a child, spanking. My mom used the paddle from one of the paddle ball games. And then, ground me from tv all together for a week.
As a teenager, I didn't tend to get into a lot of trouble. Maybe I was kept from going out with friends that night... but nothing really traumatic. |
