I really don't think I am cut out for child birth- a lot of people joke about it- but I am dead serious. I don't think I can do it.

I never thought childbirth sounded that bad. I mean it's painful and not pretty but it's just part of life.

Billions of women have done it and a lot of them without a hospital or drugs or anything. 13 year olds have done it before. What is so different from those billions and you? |

I have a feeling the birth rate of the world is going to steadily decrease thanks to this post.

Sometimes I think I want a surrogate mother to deliver the baby for me. I'm sure it costs way too much, though.

Right after birth I felt great actually. They got me up to use the bathroom and clean off after about 15 minutes. My first pee was while I still was a little
numb from the epidural, so that was good. I didn't get any sleep most of the day (I had him at 4:20 am). Then again he was in the NICU so I was worried
about him, and on some kind of adrenaline high. I did have to make sure I had all the pain meds on time. When I didn't take the pain meds I started hurting
pretty badly. I also couldn't push it and stand too long. Without the wheelchair I could only stand in the NICU for a few minutes, so if the rocker
wasn't available it was all I could do to walk down there.
But compared to labor, I was freaking fantastic. I did nap off and on during labor. But I was in labor for 39 hours, so if I hadn't napped I wouldn't have made it. |

My experience after child birth was fine. I was a little tired but mostly hungry since I didn't plan on giving birth that day (was induced). I needed no
stitches, didn't have any hemorrhoids. I was just mostly sore and swollen. However when it was time to use the restroom about an hour later, blood gushed
out all over the bathroom floor. It was quite embarrassing, but was assured that was normal. I was up and around the next day wanting to go home.

I was a pooper both times I gave birth, completely mortifying. Helpful tip- don't eat Mexican food if you suspect you are going into labour.
I too had a fourth degree tear with the first child. That means a tear from your vajay to your anus. I lost a lot of blood and was told that I could need a blood transfusion; may have to use a colostomy bag; baby may have a bacteria infection. Scared the hell out of me, but these things didn't happen, thankfully. Seriously giving birth is discusting but you are so in the moment, that you just have to let all of these things slide. I think the worst part is the intense sleeplessness with a newborn baby. It's tough. |

The only smell I recall was my burning flesh getting the c-section.
I don't ever want a c-section again. Had pain so bad it hurt to move and now almost 2 years later, the scar STILL hurts! And the never ending shaking afterwards, dying of thirst, freezing cold, having my stomach pressed on after that surgery was pure hell. |

So I guess you all wouldn't recommend wearing a white nightie after birthing a baby, LOL, like in the movies!?
and how long after the baby is born does the afterbirth come? |

My childbirth and pregnancy were wonderful. My son was born on his due date. The things that I did not know going into childbirth is having diarrhea to clean
my system out (hours before ever having to go to the hospital) and closer to birth I threw up like my body was totally cleansing itself. Childbirth felt really
natural and the nurses have experienced it all before so everything is no big deal nothing to be embarrassed about. The constipation does suck but after the
first 2 weeks everything gets back to normal. Honestly I was so excited about my child all the other stuff was really minor to me. And there is no rank smell
that I know of. Hospitals are very clean so they clean everything up rather quickly.
