I actually thought it'd be wayyyy worse. I mean don't get me wrong, it hurts, but get the epidural and all is good again. I was uncomfortable as I had a baby stuck in my pelvis for 6 hours, but you are on a natural high. I didn't ask for pain relief until the next day. You're pretty tired though. ETA: Afterbirth seemed really quick for me, normally like 10-30 minutes afterward.

I don't feel any pain with my scar though. It gets itching once or twice a month.

I was in labor for 8 hours and honestly, it was nothing like I had read; however the nurses did say that come my 2nd child, I won't be repeating this wonderful story. Wonderful and amazing pregnancy and labor... not so wonderful recovery... Um, there's no way those nurses, or anyone can know that Still nobody want to talk about the smell huh? I used to work in an L&D and in a NICU and it just depends. For some births, there is a smell, sometimes there isn't aside from the normal hospital smells. And before anyone asks the smell just usually smells like your period smell x100 If someone poops, obviously that smells as well, but usually not very strong and not for long because it is cleaned up pretty fast.

Other than that, it was fine. I've given birth, drug-free, three times and it was fine. I mean it's no walk in the park, it fucking hurts, but not bad enough to never want to do it again or anything. Afterwards I was fine. I got some residual cramping with breastfeeding for the first couple of days, but nothing awful. I never bled more than a week after giving birth, and it was like a regular period. I wore a normal pad and that was it.

It's not like a consistent period for the 6 weeks. My bleeding didn't even last a whole week. The rest of the time it was the old blood and...the other stuff.
