My boss wants me to include Myspace in our new push towards social marketing. I was under the impression that Myspace usage is waning and I've read
recently that most of the users are younger/less educated than our target audience. However, we are in the music industry and seems that part of Myspace is
still booming (from an outside perspective). Any thoughts on this? I know personally, I rarely use Myspace.

I personally feel like myspace is declining, I deleted mine a year ago because all my friends seemed to be migrating over to facebook. But if you are looking
to market, why not have both a facebook and myspace page?

I was reading an article on Wired the other day that said:
MySpace knows as much as anyone that its traffic is dwindling as users continue their migration to Facebook and Twitter to do their social networking. |

Well, as someone involved with social media, if you are in music, you should have a MySpace page. The recent acquisition of iLike and partnership with Google
on music search results has a wider span for any user, but you should also use Facebook and Twitter and possibly Buzznet and Ning.
The core of social media marketing is the content you drive out. MySpace is changing and I expect a lot of great things to happen in the next 3 - 6 months. If anything, stats show that there is a core of people who still have MySpace, but have other social networking sites. They might not use it often, but when they do it is for content - especially music. |

I don't care what they turn myspace into as long as they keep MW and GS.

Go with Facebook.. make fan pages, groups, etc. Facebook > MySpace these days, imo.
I deleted MySpace my freshman year of college.. and mostly everyone I know now either has deleted it or keeps theirs up to creep on people but doesn't use it. |

To really be successful in social media, you need all networks. If the OP is marketing music, MySpace with the iLike partnership is the #2 or 3 music site and #1 Music Social networking site. |

Out of curiosity, what other things are you doing for their social media?
