My family is doing some gift exchange thing where each person brings a homemade gift and then we'll get one from someone else. The catch is that I'm
the only person traveling, and whatever I make has to be something I can fly across the country with. So it needs to fit easily in my suitcase and it needs to
travel well. Ideas? All I know how to make is baked goods but that's not practical for traveling.

A nice ornament? Picture frames?

You could make a cupcake in a jar! I'm not sure what the point is, but they look cute!

They do look cute!
I'd thought about picture frames but I'm not sure that I can make them look classy/nice enough, you know? Like what could I do to them that will make them "homemade" but not cheap looking? I want to make something that will get used/be appreciated. |

Knit something. Blanket, scarf, socks, mittens, hat, whatever. Easy to learn if you don't know how.

Just go to Michael's. You will find something there. I promise.

I'd just go to Michael's but I completely lack creativity so I think I need a plan in advance.
I don't know how to knit but maybe a scarf would be doable. |

I'm doing some DIY gift baskets for coworkers etc to keep things semi-cheap this year. I'm making some notecards, cookies in a jar, coasters, a framed
photo etc. I wish you would've asked this yesterday cause I have all kinds of ideas bookmarked on my work computer

For Mother's day I scanned in family pictures and used Paint to make them all small, uniform squares. Then I copy and pasted the squares into a bigger
checkerboard formation. I printed the finished product with my regular printer on glossy paper.

As a part of a gift you could make a mix CD of Christmas songs.

idk, people got sick of our Christmas gatherings because everyone knew what they were getting anyway.

I think the ornament and christmas mix cd suggestions are bad ideas. I hate when ppl give gifts like that. Christmas is over and they wont be used til the next
year.

Ooo I have another idea! How about homemade bird feeders? You could do holiday-ish things - like covering pinecones in honey and birdseed and putting them on
festive string to be hung in trees. You could wrap them each in cellophane and tie with pretty ribbon, then put them in a nice basket... or something!
