What should I do with it? It's from the US Treasury. Can I write "Return to Sender" after it's been opened. I taped it up but it's pretty
obvious I opened it. It was sent to this address for someone who hasn't lived here in probably 6 or 7 years. I was in a hurry while opening the mail
didn't even look at the envelope as I was opening it.

Almost $200. I feel bad, but don't understand why sometime like that would be sent here? We rarely get mail for this person and if we do it's like an
advertisement for Macy's or something.

Shred it and never think about it again.

Are you sure it's real? 6-7 years seem like a long time for something from the U.S. Treasury to be sent to that address.

Just put return to sender on it, youd want them to send it back if it was your check

Yeah it looks pretty legit. I wonder if the person is even still alive honestly. My husband met her when he was buying the house and I think she was pretty
old.
When writing Return to Sender should I write something like, "Opened in Error." I don't want people to think I was being shady by opening it. |

i would shred it and forget it. if it was legit, it would be sent again or they would contact the person.

Take it to your post office. Just let them know that you opened it up before looking at the name on it. Your mail carrier made the mistake not you. They can
seal it up with a postal note, if they have to, and return it to the sender.

^ Yes take it to the post office. Always keep in mind the golden rule- what would you want someone else to do, if this happened to you? I would not shred it. I
would return it to the PO.
