In other cases I think the medical costs for not covering abortions are far higher. If a woman wants to terminate a pregnancy she'll find a way whether it's with a coat hanger or douching with a toxic solution or another "at home" remedy. In such cases the odds of a woman becoming badly injured, or extremely ill are high. So are the costs of the emergency procedures that may be needed to save her. When you think of it that way it's far less expensive to cover it being done in a sterile clinic by a doctor who knows what s/he is doing. |

That's why the insurance company I worked for put so much money into educating people to take better care of themselves and get regular treatment instead of waiting until it's a crisis. They certainly weren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts. |

It doesn't really bother me that it's not currently covered, but I think that it's absurd that erectile dysfunction medications and similar are covered if abortions are not. I'd appreciate some consistency there. Well you're never gonna get consistency as long as men rule the world. Some dumbass Congressman said women should have to pay higher premiums on their insurance because they might get pregnant. BUT DON'T TAKE AWAY HIS VIAGRA! |

Yep it is a medical procedure and the choice of the women. Curious how can you pro-choice and not want to protect the right to choose? It is a medical
procedure, if this was a man there wouldnt even be a question. Their reproductive rights are always covered.

Birth Control should be covered. Abortions shouldn't be covered.

I'm with others. Birth Control should be covered, as well as medically necessary abortions for the health of the mother (rape falls under this in my
opinion, if the mother chooses.) If you're just someone who slipped up and needs an abortion, out of pocket expense.

joey is a teapot wrote:This. Also, BC should be fully covered. And I'm pro- life and can read. It's just... it's a legal, medical procedure, so why shouldn't it be covered? The fact that I don't agree with the procedure means nothing in this context. |

Sometimes I think pro lifers who take birth control pills are sadly ignorant over how those pills work.
You can actually get pregnant while taking the pill; however the pill makes it so the lining of the uterus will reject the embryo and spontaneously abort it. Just so you know. It happens quite often and you never know about it. |

I think like any medical procedure, it should be covered by insurance. I mean I know plenty of people who even get plastic surgery covered by insurance. And
you are paying for this insurance anyway so why the freak not. lol
