I'm about to open a can of worms- to pro-choice people.

I'm very torn on this. I want to say yes and no for different reasons.

I have to pay $30 for BC, the insurance doesn't cover all of it. I don't think it's that expensive. I'm okay with it not being completely free.
I think that medically necessary abortions should be covered, similar to only necessary plastic surgery - like my mom had breast cancer and the insurance covers implants in that situation. Also, the more things insurance companies cover the higher the taxes will skyrocket. People complain about taxes now, they are nothing compared to tax rates in most other countries. |

They already are covered by most insurance policies. Maybe you're confusing it with the public option that won't pay for them.

And those countries also have a higher standard of living and are MUCH healthier. The United States is near the bottom of the list when it comes to industrialized nations health care. There's a very high correlation between access to free birth control and a much lower number of abortions. |

I think it should be up to the individual company if they want to offer that service as part of their package, but they should NOT be forced by any government
law/bill/whatever.

I think they should be covered but to a certain extent like only covering one abortion so people don't take advantage of it.

No, it shouldn't be covered. Abortion is an option, just like plastic surgery for example, and that is not covered either. I know they are 2 totally
different procedures, but I am pointing out that they are both by CHOICE.

Pregnancy is also a choice. So, pregnancy shouldn't either?

I'm pro-choice and vote hell no on this one. The only time it should be covered is if it's a medical necessity.

I believe it should be covered. I think we're in a country that has their priorities all fucked up. We support wars in which people get killed. We have
states where tax money goes to death penalties and yet abortion is an issue even when it comes to private care.
It is not my business what the mother decides when having an abortion. Yes, there should be some restrictions, but in the end, they have to live with it. Live with their decision. I believe, though, counseling should be mandatory for every single one. |

I'm pro-choice and I'd rather have a strong public option than have abortion covered. Every time I watch the updates on this bill, it seems that
progress is being halted because of abortion and it's fucking silly. We can work on getting abortion included later, just like we can work on eliminating
health insurance completely and getting a single-payer system later. Baby steps, everyone.
