go around spreading/praising the word of Christ yet do immoral things? Now before you go jumping down my throat I know everyone has different values and
opinions but there is this one girl I knew in college and she popped up on my mini-feed. She has all these Bible verses/scriptures up on her facebook and in
her statuses, yet she has casual sex, has stolen money from the job she worked at, and there's pictures of her all the time getting trashed with her
friends. I just don't get why you would put up all this religious stuff on your profile when you act completely different?

Anyone who says one thing but acts in the opposite is a hypocrite. Pretty much the definition of the word there.

That's one of the many reasons why I HATE "religion". Anyone can say they're religious and they can attend church however many times
throughout the week but they can still be a shitty person and the fact that they attend church does NOT cancel that out.

I don't really find it hypocritial I mean if she went around saying "YOU MUST NOT DRINK BEER IS THE DEVIL'S WATER" and then has pictures of
her drinking Miller Lite then I would say you have a point. Also, just having Bible quotes as her status doesn't make her a Bible thumper either she could
just like certain ones

Yes and no. Depends if they act holier than thou.
But at the end of the day, a Christian realizes no mortal is perfect. You strive for "perfection" and to live Christ like, however people often backslide. |

If you screw up once, like, if you think alcohol is evil, and get drunk once, not so much a hypocrite as a genuine mistake. But if this is a continual thing,
like you're out getting drunk Friday night, and still saying alcohol is horrible and evil and wrong and against the Bible, then yes, it's hypocritical.
But we all do hypocritical stuff at some point in our life. |

Very hypocritical. The "do as I say, not as I do" method annoys me.

The people who are the most vocal about their religious beliefs are usually the ones with something to hide.

dogfoot75 wrote: This. Christian doctrine itself recognises that we aren't perfect, we will make mistakes, and the key is to seek forgiveness and strive to be better. But like this poster said, there's a difference between being a human being like the rest of us - therefore fallible - and being a hypocrite who barely even attempts to practise what they preach. If you claim yourself to be a Christian yet you go around stealing, whoring it up and drinking yourself to death, you really didn't read your Bible properly if at all. |

I find it hypocritical when anyone says one thing and does another, but I am more critical when Christians do it.
That's one of the reasons I stopped going to my old church because the pastor was talking about adultery and he was cheating on his wife and having a baby with the mistress. |

She doesn't practice what she preaches. Yes, that is a hypocrite. Why does she do it? Because she doesn't see her own faults.
