Jan. 1st Martin Luther King Day President's Day Memorial Day Fourth of July Labor Day Columbus Day Veteran's Day Thanksgiving Christmas All are paid and I even get my night time differential for them as my normally scheduled work hours go 3-11:30.

Yup, that's how it works for me too. For example, I got July 3rd off this year. Next year I'll get July 5th most likely. On occasion the President will issue a declaration and give Christmas Eve off if it's on a Monday. Last year Bush gave us the day after Christmas off so we didn't have to come in on the Friday and then the year before Christmas was on a Tuesday and Bush gave us Christmas Eve off on Monday. I see no reason that Obama will give us Christmas Eve off as it's just a Thursday this year. I won't do my night shift though..I'll work a 10-6:30 shift instead.

We get two float days to use throughout the year and 3 weeks paid vacation per year. My company is pretty much the balls.

Considering we got paid time and a half to work the holiday - and then the straight holiday pay - and it all came out to be nearly $33/hour for me (as the lowest on the totem pole), none of us minded. I signed up for Labor Day and Presidents Day (because wtf cares about those "holidays), but people volunteered for Thanksgiving because you still got out by 2 or 3.

We have holiday "teams" and we are required to work a certain number of holidays a year, and the holidays we have to work rotate every year. The only holidays I even get paid extra for working are Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day.

Posts: 18864 (11/12/2009 1:47 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	When I had a job I got: New Year's Eve and day Memorial Day Fourth of July Labor Day Thanksgiving and the Friday after Christmas Eve and Day Then we got two more days off on the week between Christmas and New Year's we just had to rotate them so that at least one person was in the office on those days. We also got half days all the time. Like Good Friday and pretty much every Friday before a three day weekend. And on our birthdays!
