Posts: 11131 (11/13/2009 2:15 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	nickname? my two oldest sisters have hissy fits if you call them by their nicknames. they take it personal, but that's the only name i've ever called them. at some point i know i'll see them around the holidays and probably have to introduce my bf to them, but i'm not looking forward it.

If it is something completely embarrassing or childish maybe you should try to change calling them by those names. One of my friends had an older sister who called her Snots everywhere-even in front of other friends/in professional settings. It was really embarrassing for her and she just wanted to be called by her real name instead of a mean one given to her when she was 5.

Then why don't you just introduce your bf to them using their proper names... i have no problem introducing them with the proper names, but i just know that at some point i'll probably forget to use the "proper name" when speaking to them. i'm just not understanding why all of a sudden the nickname is a big problem. i can maybe see a problem with strangers calling them by their nicknames, but we're family.
