I drank those when I was 10 all the time. There's no alcohol.

I think the OP meant that it's more weird she was pretending to be drunk at 10 years old, not that the drink actually had alcohol in it.

How can one child consume so many Shirley Temples?

I would never allow my child to walk/run around a restaurant let alone pretend she were drunk......ever.
On a side note though, my daughter still orders shirley temples and this one waitress just a few weeks ago asked for ID. How does one not know they're not alcoholic? |

like mother, like daughter probably. it's bizarre what parents celebrate any more.

My daughter was also proofed asking for a strawberry daiquiri when she was clearly under age and I looked at the waiter in that case and said "clearly it's a virgin daiquiri." |

Some parents probably find that amusing. I would have been embarrassed had that been my child but some parents have really lax attitudes about things. The
most concerning part of that, to me, is that she seems to have such an understanding of alcohol (and seems to think it is a good thing) at such a young age.

I work at a huge liquor store/outlet [like... costco/sams club size] and you'd be surprised [or probably not.. lol] by what the kids do/say that come in w/
their parents.

I would be so embarrassed if my child was acting like that at home let alone in public.
