Well, depends on which government you are referring to. In Africa there are countries where being gay is illegal and you can receive the death penalty or be
put in jail for life.
Same-sex marriage is legal in Canada, Spain, Belgium, South Africa, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. In the US there are anti-discriminatory laws. Read up on the definitions under the Federal hate crimes. |
