I'm in school, and while I work when I can, that money goes to bills. It's not like these kids are underprivileged or anything, either. They're all spoiled rotten, and 3 of them are some of the brattiest children I've encountered.
Flipping out!!!!

Christmas gifts/shopping is stressing me out! |

Why am I always broke during the Holidays? I would make homemade gifts for the adults, but that's not an option for the eleventy billion children on my
gift list. There are many reasons that I don't have children, but one is that I can't afford to buy Christmas gifts for them. I don't understand
why my dad's cracked out family insists that every member 18+ by a present for all of the kids under 17.

SO DON'T DO IT!!
You don't HAVE to buy presents for people! It is NOT a requirement! Tell them you don't have the money and be done with it. It's your life, not theirs. |

Then I'll be the bitch that spoiled Christmas for the bratty kids. Or even if the adults don't say anything, their evil kids will come over to me and
say things like, "What did you get me? Where is my present from you?"
These kids aren't tiny, either. The youngest of the evil trifecta is 8. |

Make them cards that say "A donation has been made in your name to.... ME."

Tell them Christmas isn't about the gifts and they are selfish and greedy for thinking it is. Times are rough for a lot of people right now and we should
be cutting back where we can.

That would cause to me to skip Christmas. That's insane.

That's exactly what their mother should be saying to them! Oh, but wait...she's the reason they're evil! It's difficult to be kind/polite when
your mother is Satan.
I love Christmas, but I hate these extended family parties. I just want to spend Christmas with my brother. That's all I care about. |

Can you suggest doing a Secret Santa this year? So you only have to by for one brat?

You don't HAVE to buy for anyone, so don't let your family guilt trip you into doing it. I know the obligations suck, I've had them a few times
myself, but you've gotta put your foot down.

We do SS with the adults in the family. Putting the kids into the SS pool has been discussed, but the majority of the family (read: Satan and her engineer
husband) feel that wouldn't be fair to the kids because then they'd only get 1 present. Boofackinghoo. I'm sure they could function until they got
home and opened 39049023904 gifts from their parents/Santa.

How are Satan and her minions related to you?

I prefer a Christmas with no presents and no gift exchanges. More time for eating.

Her husband is my dad's brother.
I couldn't agree more, KellySD. When I have plenty of money (that's only happened like...once) I love giving gifts. LOVE it. Even homemade gifts are fun to make/give. But receiving gifts has never been a priority for me. |

So she's your aunt and they are your cousins. Fun...
I have no problem tell my family to fuck off but I know not everyone is okay with that. |

Yes
I've said those very words to her before, but I try to pick my battles for my brother's sake. He's close with her eldest and it makes things complicated. |

Tell everyone, in advance, that you are NOT buying presents. If they want to throw hissyfits, let them do so.
