I have to write a paper on some of her poems. What are some of her most famous poems? Or ones that are good to write about. They need to have a common theme. I
need about 3-4.

I've written papers on some of her poems. Which ones have you read in class?

Didn't she write one called Daddy? Or something similar?

My favorite is Tulips, but you may want to do all the daddy/holocaust poems if you need several with the same theme (Daddy, Lady Lazarus)

We haven't read any in class. I chose her to do it on. I've only read her book, The Bell Jar, and some of her poems like "Mad Girl's Love
Song" and "Daddy." I'm trying to find some similiar in theme though to write about.

Here are a few ideas:
Major Themes, Historical Perspectives, and Personal Issues Themes include women's place in American culture (even though Plath lived the last three years in England, thinking wrongly that she had more freedom in England to be a writer); what women can attempt; how coerced they were by social norms (i.e., to date, marry, have children, be a helpmeet, support charities); the weight society places on women--to be the only support of children, to earn livings (Plath's life, echoing her mother's very difficult one, with little money and two children for whom she wanted the best of opportunities); the need for superhuman talent, endurance, and resourcefulness in every woman's life. |

Lady Lazarus and Daddy were always my favorites, in that order.

I think "Daddy" is her most famous but if you want something a bit more off the beaten path maybe try "Mirror"?
