Would you be upset if your S/O got you a gift card as a gift for your bday, xmas, hannukah, anniversary, or other event, instead of actually picking out a gift
from the heart? My friends and I were talking about this yesterday and I said i'd rather it be a gift he thought of rather than a gift card with no thought
put into it.

As long as it was a gift card to Louis Vuitton or something, I'd be okay with it.

If it was all the time, then yes. But I also think it depends on the person. Some people are really picky when it comes to presents that they'd rather have
a gift card so that they could pick out what they want.

Probably. I'd rather have a $5 present that means something than a $20 giftcard.

I'm pretty picky and specific about presents. I know I should be thankful for anything I get but I hate it when people spend their money on things that I
know I wouldn't want or will never use. It's just so wasteful. So yes, I would 9 times out of 10 prefer a gift card.
Usually I just tell my husband exactly what I want though. |

Not at all. I'm pretty hard to shop for, so my bf usually buys me an actual gift (usually, something I've discussed wanting before) + a few gift cards
to some of my favorite stores.

He's a man. Don't expect him to think of a cutesy gift and get all giddy about giving it to you. Your lucky he even remembered to buy a gift card
What I do is give him a list of the things that I want for him to pick from. That way I don't know exactly what I'm getting but I know I'll like it. |

I would prefer a giftcard sometimes. I am over "thoughtful gifts that mean something from THE HEART!!!!!!"-I am old now and want more practical
things. My boyfrend is picking out something practical for me that I need for my Christmas gift and I am ABSOLUTELY PUMPED. He is taking time to research and
read consumer reviews so I guess maybe it feels like effort even if it isn't like...a homemade craft he built to portray his love.

I think I'd be upset if I got JUST a gift card and nothing else. I'm getting my boyfriend a gift card to a car wash this year

I wouldn't mind. I have gotten tops that were about 5 sizes too big (he liked it and they didn't have it in my size) A nascar shirt (I am not a nascar
fan, but it had a ford on it, so he got it). Pots. The only times he as gotten me anything I could use was when he either took my friend (who ask what I wanted
before hand) or when I printed something out that I wanted.
Not trying to sound ungrateful, but his heart is in the right place, but his brain isn't. |

I'm one of those people that hates thinking of gifts for someone else. If something comes to me easily, that's fine. But otherwise, you're gettin a
gift card. You wanna use that as some kind of tell all about my feelings for you....go for it. LOL
I love gift cards. I prefer them. |

My boyfriend usually gets me a Victoria's Secret gift card for Christmas. But because he knows I'll always be happy with that because I love spending
money there. So no, he does not get it for himself.
